Thank You's

Today I received the box of scarfs that were sent.  Thank you so much.  They will work to keep the cool air and sand out of our faces as we convoy around. I went and distributed the items through both Embedded Training teams that are here. We are in northern Afghanistan around Mazar-e Sharif.  We mentor and train both the Afghan National Army and Afghan National Police, Border Police, and Civil Order Police.

The weather is currently getting colder, but there is still no snow.
Most of our team is from Southern Illinois.  Most of us are from Litchfield, but there are soldiers from West Frankfort, Marion, Salem, Urbana, and the Chicago area as well.  I have attached a picture of the team, Team Riot as we are called.

I read and passed off the letter that you wrote.  I hope that you and your family had a blessed day.  We arrived in Mazar-e Sharif a few days before Thanksgiving.  We spent the day relaxing mostly, and went to the chow hall to eat as a team.

As for me, I am a 30 year old Sergeant First Class.  I have been in the Army for 12 1/2 years.  I am married and have a 15 month old son.  We have been married for 4 years.  I work full time for the National Guard in Litchfield.  My wife and I met while I was stationed in Ft Polk, LA.  While I am deployed here, she moved back to Louisiana to be closer to her family.

Again, thanks again for the head wraps that you sent to us.  They will definitely come in handy while we are here.
Feel free to email occasionally.  When I have the time I will definitely write back.

God Bless
