Thank You's

I just wanted to send you all a quick note to thank you for the time you all take to make quilts. I work in the ICU at Bagram AirField. We see every critical patient and from here we fly out to Germany where they can get better care. These past few months have been very busy but winter is coming up soon and hopefully things will slow down. It gets very cold here so the Taliban seem to hunker down for the winter. God willing, they will. Once again, thank you from the bottom of my heart, your quilts means everything here.

I write this on Christmas Eve with tears in my eyes. I just returned from my daughter’s house & found a large box on my porch from TSgt Pati Acosta in Afghanistan , the Medic who sent us a note saying our quilts mean everything there. She sent a beautiful framed flag & plaque saying it was flown on a combat mission on Thanksgiving Day in honor of the Calif Team of Citizen SAM see atch pics. I am extremely touched that they took the time to do this, and honored to have the flag from a combat mission. Thought you might like to have the pics for our Newsletter I will definitely show it to our Quilt Guild & display it at the Quilt Show in Feb.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year,
Arlene

"To All The Gifted Hands,
     I would like to extend my sincere gratitude for the helmet liners you sent out to all of my Soldiers. They love them and wear them every day. You should be receiving thank you notes from them if you have not already. ... Again, I thank you all for your continued support for all of our deployed Soldiers, God bless you and America!"

Dear Operation Helmetliner;

I am the Critical Care Nurse on a Critical Care Aeromedical Transport Team (CCATT) stationed in central Iraq.  Our teams fly the most critical patients from point of injury to the combat support hospitals and often transfer those patients on to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany.  Today, I had the honor of using one of your blankets.  The letter is dated 26 November 2008 that accompanied yout blanket. The blanket was used to warm a young Marine that has a severe traumatic brain
injury that he sustained in combat as a gunner.  Our patient actually improved during flight, in part due to the warmth of your blanket.  He should recover to return to his family. Myself and many others are on multiple rotations flying our injured warriors to points of higher definitive care.  Thank you for taking your time and your resources to make these blankets.  They are very much appreciated.
Kindest Regards

Hello All,

 I'm stationed at Kandahar airfield in Afghanistan, and I wanted to say thank you for the helmet liner the weather here has been in the high 30 to low 40's with rain for the last few days,of course our helicopter's are outside and that is where we spend most of our time maintaining them, it was truly a touch of home when they brought the helmetliners out to us thank you for the warmth and compassion also for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers. ________________________________________________________________________________________________
I am in Kandahar, Afghanistan and I was recently given one of your helmet liners, so I wanted to contact you and say thank you for your consideration and time that you must have put into making it.  I am a crew chief, which often puts me underneath running helicopters when it is already cold enough outside.  So, since I have had my helmet liner I have protected myself from the elements the best that I can.  It has been very warm and comfortable.  My fellow crew chiefs and I have been quite attached to our helmet liners.  They are greatly appreciated and put to good use.  Thank you again for your time and kindness. ________________________________________________________________________________________________
From a Marine in Iraq:

"Thank you very much for all the wonderful knit scarves. The Marines love them. I have 32 Marines and 1 Navy Corpsman that find them very warm, and useful. It is great to know that there are people back home thinking of us over here. It is a few days from Christmas, and getting very cold in Iraq. It is 40-50 degrees F. during the day and 20-30 degrees F. at night. We are in a defensive position in a major city, along the Euphrates River. It has been really quiet the past few months, and we hope it stays that way. We all look forward to going home and be reunited with our families. But for the time being we are making Iraq a safer place. Happy Holidays!

Operation Helmetliner,

I recieved the box last week and boy were they a hit with all the crew chiefs in my unit.  I had ben flying night battle field circulations and it has been unusually cold this winter so they have all been wearing them at night while we are doing our missions.  They all wanted me to ensure you knew how much they were appreciated.  I kept one of the scarves for myself, to tuck in around my flight vest during those chilly nights.  I hope all is well there and hope to hear from you again soon,  Thanks again they were very much appreciated.  Thanks--Mike

Hello, just wanted to drop you a note thanking you for the scarves you guys made and sent with Steve Smith to us here in Afghanistan. They really come in handy and are really nice. Not everyone received their packages at the same time, so the guys who got them first were the envy of everyone for awhile. We really appreciate the time, effort and money people put into sending us these things, it really is a blessing. Thank you again, and Merry Christmas
